Along with participating dealers Mitsubishi Motors Sales of Canada is once again partnering with Food Banks Canada and local food banks to raise funds and build awareness
Mississauga, ON – October 14, 2022 – Although the pandemic appears to have receded in Canada and most restrictions have been lifted, the impact of COVID-19 continues to bring hardship to families and individuals across the country while in addition recently soaring food prices have impacted Canadians considerably. Again in 2022, the need for food bank support has remained unacceptably high.
For the second year, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada (MMSCAN) and its dealerships have partnered with Food Banks Canada to build awareness and raise funds to support Canadians living with food insecurity ahead of United Nations World Food Day (October 16).
Mitsubishi Motors and its dealerships are pleased to donate a total of $125,000 to Food Banks Canada. Further, as part of a grassroots program, participating Mitsubishi Motors dealers will deliver assistance to their local food banks by providing financial support or food donations totalling over $25,000. The total donation over two years has now provided more than 600,000 meals to Canadians.
Throughout September and October MMSCAN is conducting a digital campaign ‘Driving Healthy Change’ explaining the importance of fighting food insecurity and to encourage Canadians to donate to Food Banks Canada ahead of World Food Day.
“Food Banks Canada is grateful for partnerships like Mitsubishi Motors Sales of Canada, especially now when there are more people turning to food banks than ever before in our history. As inflation continues to impact people across the country, food banks are struggling to raise enough funds and food to help a growing list of clients in need which is why we appreciate this support,” shared Kirstin Beardsley, CEO, Food Banks Canada”
Mitsubishi Motors Sales of Canada Inc.(MMSCAN) President and CEO, Kenji Harada notes that the company’s initiative is, unfortunately, even more important in 2022. “With the continued financial hardships of COVID-19 and now the dramatic rise in food costs across Canada, many Canadians are suffering from food insecurity more than ever. The need is now greater in 2022 and we know it’s important to help where we can,” Mr. Harada explains.
The company has also activated a volunteer program with head office associates volunteering throughout the holiday season at The Mississauga Food Bank.

collaboration with the food bank network from coast-to-coast-to-coast. For 40 years, food banks have been
dedicated to helping Canadians living with food insecurity. Over 4,500 food banks and community agencies
come together to serve our most vulnerable neighbours who – last year – made 1.1 million visits to these
organizations in one month alone, according to our HungerCount report. Over the past 10 years, as a system
we’ve sourced and shared over 1.4 billion pounds of food and Food Banks Canada shared nearly $168 million in
funding to help maximize collective impact and strengthen local capacity – while advocating for reducing the
