Overall sales establish new high-water mark for brand
Mississauga, ON – Jan. 3, 2018 – Mitsubishi Motors’ 22,706 vehicles sales in 2017 represented a 1.9 per cent increase over 2016, and the company’s best ever annual performance since it was established in Canada 15 years ago.
Mitsubishi Motors’ sales strength in 2017 was derived from its core crossover/SUV products, Mitsubishi Outlander and Mitsubishi RVR. With annual sales of 7,396 and 6,973 units, respectively, the popular utility models represented over 63 per cent of total volume, which speaks to a future direction:
“By March we will have doubled our SUV model offerings to Canadian consumers with the just-launched Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle) and the coming Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross. Featuring our world-class Super All-Wheel Control system, this formidable line-up will grow Mitsubishi Motors’ sales and customer satisfaction in 2018,” said Tony Laframboise, president & CEO, Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada.
Also in 2017, the company’s top selling Mitsubishi Lancer family of sedans notched 5,754 sales, while subcompact Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback and Mirage G4 sedan models hit 2,502 deliveries; the all-electric i-MiEV hatchback recorded 57 sales.
Last month’s sales of 1,285 units – while down from last December’s 1,667 sales, included the first-ever deliveries of the game-changing 2018 Outlander PHEV. The all-new model began arriving in Canadian dealerships late last month with a starting MSRP of $42,998, and that’s before the applicable provincial electric-vehicle rebate programs.
Arriving in March, the all-new 2018 Eclipse Cross contains many all-new features including a 1.5-litre turbo-charged engine, dual-pane, power-sliding panoramic roof, 7-inch smartphone link thin display audio with touchpad controller, Head-Up Display (HUD) and heated rear seats. The culmination of Mitsubishi Motors’ success and strengths in the SUV space, Eclipse Cross goes further with its distinctive styling, advanced technology and all-new interior, with a starting MSRP of $27,798.
