· Mitsubishi Motors closes 2024 Fiscal Year with record sales
· Outlander PHEV remains top-selling PHEV in Canada
· Kenichi Kawaji begins tenure as new President and CEO
MISSISSAUGA, ON, April 10, 2025 – Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada (MMSCAN) has wrapped up fiscal year 2024 with record sales, led by the continued growth of Canada’s best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
Mitsubishi Motors had Total Sales of 38,164 units in FY24, an increase of 999 units, or 2.7% over FY23. The flagship Outlander PHEV was the top performer with 13,358 units sold, a 28.3% increase over FY23. The Outlander had 8,722 Total Sales, the RVR 7,236, the Eclipse Cross 5,373, and the Mirage 3,475 units.
For the first quarter of calendar year 2025, Mitsubishi Motors saw a decrease in Total Sales compared to the same period in 2024, largely the result of the expiration of the Federal Government’s EV rebate, as well as Quebec’s pause on EV rebates. For the quarter, Total Sales were 8,164 units, a 9% decrease over the first quarter of CY24. Sales are expected to rebound in the second quarter, as the Quebec EV rebate program resumes and a new Mitsubishi Motors marketing campaign begins.
Mitsubishi is also seeing a positive response from the launch of the refreshed 2025 Outlander gas SUV, which went on sale in March. The updated vehicle features a new Yamaha sound system, new interior, and updated driving dynamics.
The start of the 2025 Fiscal Year also marks the beginning of Kenichi Kawaji’s tenure as President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada. Kawaji replaces Kenji Harada, who served in the role for four years and has taken on a new role within Mitsubishi Motors Corp. Kawaji has been with MMC for more than 20 years, serving in increasingly more senior positions overseeing various regions.
